Current state of HPV immunization in Canada

HPV vaccination rates vary significantly between and within jurisdictions. The provincial/territorial final dose HPV vaccination uptake rate ranges from 58% to 92%. Very little data has been collected on the rates of HPV vaccination for identifiable populations within provinces and territories.

First Nations-, Inuit- and Metis-governed research and data systems

The Action Plan calls for enhanced measurement and standardized reporting to help identify disparities and provide actionable insights for program improvement including the prioritization of First Nations-, Inuit-, and Metis-governed research and data systems. The gap in Peoples-specific qualitative and quantitative knowledge around HPV immunization results in a lack in culturally appropriate HPV immunization programming .
