Contractor, Diagnosis and Clinical Care
Created in 2007, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (“the Partnership”) is an independent organization funded by the federal government to implement the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control. The Strategy aims to reduce the incidence of cancer, lessen the likelihood of Canadians dying from cancer, and enhance the quality of life of those affected by cancer. As the steward of the Strategy, we work collaboratively with cancer agencies, governments, national organizations, patients and families to advance meaningful and measurable progress in achieving shared goals.
The Partnership is seeking a qualified resource (Contractor) to provide project management and analytical support to the Diagnosis and Clinical Care team. Reporting to the Manager, Diagnosis and Clinical Care, the Contractor will focus on supporting planning and implementation for projects, including multi-jurisdictional funded projects, focused on improving outcomes for patients with a suspicion of cancer.
Expected time commitment: Approximately 2-4 days a week (up to 30 hours a week).
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead development of high quality technical and non-technical content to support project work and stakeholder engagement
- Conduct environmental scans, synthesize evidence, draft audience-specific analytical reports, and propose recommendations using a variety of formats
- Gather input from team members and inform the development of a business case, stakeholder engagement strategy, and direction for next steps
- Co-develop project proposals templates, co-design project implementation plans, and articulate proposed content for measuring and reporting
- Prepare stakeholder engagement meeting plans and materials (e.g., agendas, presentations, briefings, and documentations) to support a variety of internal and external meetings
- In collaboration with others, lead development of draft plans and organization of internal and external meetings
Essential skills and attributes
- Ability to function independently and seek guidance as appropriate, being the driver of projects and products from inception to execution
- Excellent knowledge of and demonstrated experience with federal and/or provincial health policy landscape, including understanding of issues and challenges and key differences among jurisdictions
- Knowledge and experience of health sector issues/challenges, preferably cancer control and prevention
- Knowledge and experience of research skills, evidence and effectiveness
- Excellent analytical, interpretive and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management, time-management and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in writing project proposals, evaluation plans, research summaries
- Strong internal and external relationship management skills, including ability to interact and work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at the provincial and/or national levels
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to identify and effectively respond to change
- A commitment to collaboration, integration and a joint-accountability approach
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
- Adaptability, flexibility, diplomacy and tact
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
Experience and education
- Master’s degree in Health or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working with a range of partners, organizations and stakeholders in cancer control or the health system to develop, implement and evaluate multisite local, provincial/national level projects
- Experience leveraging data to inform business case planning, stakeholder engagement strategy, product development, and evaluation
- Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders to inform material development, create project management plans, manage contractual arrangements, and achieve targeted objectives
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
