This bylaw restricts the release of materials such as fuel, phenolic compounds, flammable materials, wastes containing radioactive material, reactive substances, cyanide or sulphide-based wastes and other compounds that may explode in the wastewater of the sewage system.
This bylaw does not allow for the following substances to be discharged into any sanitary sewer, in whole or in concentrations indicated in the bylaw: gasoline, benzene, naphtha, pesticides, herbicides, radioactive materials, PCBs, chromium, nickel, lead, and cadmium.
This bylaw regulates waste collection and disposal in the city of Moncton. Schedule D of this bylaw outlines that household hazardous waste (HHW) products are classified as non-disposable waste and must be disposed of at a specialized hazardous waste site. Schedule C also includes a list of HHW products, some of which are or contain known carcinogens.
