Quality assurance recommendations for interpretive pathology: Slides

Review these slides to learn about quality assurance recommendations for interpretive pathology for enhancing patient safety

These slides summarize the Quality Initiative for Interpretive Pathology’s (QIIP’s) aim to enhance patient safety. The initiative’s framework of recommendations promotes better and more consistent processes for quality assurance in pathology across Canada.

These slides were created to address the lack of uniform and comprehensive quality guidelines for interpretive pathology. Current events in Canada have raised questions about the quality of diagnostic interpretation and patient safety in anatomical pathology and diagnostic imaging.

QIIP began in 2013, when the Partnership and the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) came together to improve the quality of interpretive pathology in Canada.

QIIP released its recommendations in 2016. The recommendations framework is the first of its kind in Canada. The framework helps jurisdictions incorporate the recommendations into both new and existing programs about quality.
